Hunstanton’s main beach has done the best of all the local shorelines rated in the 2014 Keep Britain Tidy blue flag awards, announced today.
It failed to be awarded a blue flag but was given a Seaside Award.
In total 168 awards – 56 Blue Flag and 112 Seaside Awards – were awarded nationwide with 23 beaches holding both.
The Seaside Award has been introduced in England this year and replaces the Quality Coast Award, which was introduced by Keep Britain Tidy in 2007.
The award recognises and rewards beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management and, in the case of bathing beaches, meet guideline water quality.
