Scouts, Beavers and Cubs worked very hard on Saturday, December 21, planting their apple tree Christmas Pippin at Hunstanton’s Community Orchard.
Luckily the rain held off all morning and so it wasn’t too muddy.
Orchard chairman Kate Dunbar said: “This lovely variety of apple is modern; it has been grown from a seedling discovered by chance alongside a road, and so its parentage is not certain. However, it is thought that perhaps it might be a cross between two well-known varieties, Cox’s Orange Pippin and Gala.
But apparently it is delicious and so it looks like we are all in for a treat when it has grown a little more and gives us a bumper crop!”
