Hunstanton student receives Rotary club award for his community contribution

A student has been recognised for his contribution to the community.

Tony Spaans, pictured above centre, received the Hunstanton and District Rotary Club’s centenary award for community service and enterprise during an assembly on Thursday.

The award is open to all sixth form students at the resort’s Smithdon High School and a £250 prize is given to the winner for a project of their choice.

Tony impressed the judges with the range of his community work which includes music teaching, judo instruction and helping elderly residents with their shopping, as well as being a member of the school’s student council.

To mark the 10th year of the award, second and third prizes were also presented to Jack Savage and Imogen Woode-Wallace.
