The fate of the Lynn incinerator is now set to be determined at two crucial council meetings, which will be held on successive days in Norwich next week.
When councillors meet at County Hall on Monday, they will have to decide whether Norfolk County Council should accept or reject a revised project plan for the incinerator, which is being put forward by developers Cory Wheelabrator following delays in the expected planning process for the plant.
The council’s cabinet will then meet the following day, Tuesday October 29, to consider the council’s recommendations.
Following Friday’s announcement of the government’s decision to withdraw its grant to the scheme, consortium spokesman Paul Green said: “We are disappointed that the Waste Infrastructure Credits have been withdrawn from the Norfolk project.
“The consortium will submit a revised project plan to Norfolk County Council in line with its contract.”
