Don’t “rush into another ill informed commitment” is the message sent to Norfolk County Council in the latest round in the fight against the incinerator.
West Norfolk Council is asking the county to defer the adoption of a waste site allocation development plan until planning inspector Elizabeth Hill publishes her report.
The plan, which sets out where the county’s waste will be treated and includes the Saddlebow burner site, was due to be debated at county hall on Monday.
Borough council leader Nick Daubney put forward the deferment motion at an extraordinary in Lynn Town Hall last night (Thursday, September 12) when he told members that the plan was based on out of date figures.
He said: “There is, as we know, huge public concern and large sums of money were invested by many parties in holding a public planning inquiry and to my mind, having spent the money, it would be sensible to see what the results are before rushing into another ill informed commitment.”
