The district semi-final of the Rotary Young Chef competition was held on Saturday at the College of West Anglia resturant. Sam Jordan, a 17-year-old student at the college, pictured, received stiff competition from 15 other chefs from all over East Anglia.
Competitors had to prepare, cook, and serve a main meal for two people within a one hour time limit. If this was not challenging enough they also had to ensure the meal cost less than £7.50 and had to supply all their own equipment. Three judges put them through their paces and marked them according to a range of criteria, including their hygiene, taste, and presentation.
The eight remaining competitors will now go forward to the district final which will be held at the Suffolk One sixth form college in Ipswich on March 8.
