KING’S LYNN: Bespak deal may offer jobs hope

One of Lynn’s biggest companies could be creating new jobs after agreeing to produce a nicotine inhalation device.

Bespak is considering expanding its North Lynn Industrial Estate site after signing a contract for an undisclosed sum with Nicoventures.

Staff at Bespak will manufacture the inhalation system and assemble the product if it receives regulatory approval.

Managing director Keyvan Djamarani said this was a fantastic opportunity for the company.

He said: “It is an exciting venture and this is a new customer for us.

“The opportunity will most certainly create new roles but how many will depend on the make-up of the device.

“The device will be different from electronic cigarettes. It will be patterned by Nicoventures and regulated.

“The devices which are available such as electronic cigarettes are not regulated.”

Bespak says revenues from the contract depend on sales.

Reports suggest that the product will be called Oxette but Nicoventures, which is a subsidiary of the British American Tobacco Group, has refused to comment as it is seeking a medical licence.

Nicoventures managing director Adrian Marshall said: “We are delighted to have agreed the contract.

“This takes us closer to our ambition of introducing an innovative, licensed nicotine product as a safer alternative to smoking.”
