A spring plant and craft fair is being held in The Walks, King’s Lynn on Saturday, May 10, 11am-4pm.
Visitors will explore a range of stalls and exhibitions offering inspiration for craft, environmental and gardening projects at the free event orgainsed by West Norfolk Council. Alongside plants and other garden staples, people will be able to find out more about composting at home and solar energy as well as having a go at stone carving.
A fun “mini-beasts” puppet workshop and craft activities will be available for children. There will also be a chance to find out more about King’s Lynn in Bloom and meet the community allotment team, who cultivate in The Walks.
The annual King’s Lynn in Bloom front garden competition, sponsored by Hayes and Storr solicitors, will be launched at the event. This year the competition also includes a section for window boxes, meaning even people without traditional front gardens can get involved. Entry postcards (which have return addresses printed on them) will be available at the event. People can also pick up entry postcards from the borough council offices, Chapel Street, Lynn.
Elizabeth Nockolds, cabinet member for health and wellbeing and chairwoman of the King’s Lynn in Bloom committee, said: “King’s Lynn in Bloom brings people together to make a positive difference to their community. The spring plant sale and craft fair will provide plenty of inspiration and I hope it will encourage even more people to get involved in In Bloom.
“We will be launching this year’s front garden Competition at the event and we’ll be encouraging as many people as possible to get involved. The competition is a way of celebrating the effort people make to ensure that our town looks bright and welcoming. It doesn’t matter whether you have an extensive front garden or just enough room for a beautiful window box or if you are an experienced gardener or a complete novice, I’d say, give it a go!”
A few stalls remain. To apply to take a free stall at the event, please contact Robert Wiseman on 01553 782081 or email: Robert.firstname.lastname@example.org.
