A Lynn-based book company is throwing its weight behind a new campaign to help offer additional reading support to children.
Haven Books is working with Beanstalk, a national charity that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to work in schools with youngsters who have fallen behind with reading.
And staff were encouraged to dress as their favourite book characters for a fund-raising day held at the firm’s Oldmedow Road site on Friday.
Sales and marketing director Scott Richardson said the company sponsors the charity each year, as well as staging additional fund-raising events.
Attractions included a silent auction for a specially commissioned Beanstalk cake, a host of games and prizes for the best costumes of the day.
The event raised around £150 for the charity, whose volunteers work in primary schools across the country to help pupils improve their reading.
And Mr Richardson, who dressed as Flat Stanley for the day, said: “Everyone had a really good day.”
