A Christmas concert in Lynn’s Hillington Square has raised £400 for a charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people.

All Saints’ Church and the Olive Branch Community Cafe welcomed 170 people to the first candlelit carol service which was held on Sunday.

Freebridge Community Housing Association, which is based in Lynn, and Lovells are currently working on a £30 million regeneration project to improve the flats in Hillington Square. The first phase is due to be complete next year.

Springwood Big Band and the West Norfolk Youth Orchestra performed during the church service.

This was followed by Fr Adrian Ling switching on the Christmas lights with a countdown provided by the audience.

A total of £400 was raised for the Purfleet Trust during the event.

Freebridge’s director of housing Robert Clarke said: “It was a fantastic afternoon and it was great to see people coming together from all over the community in support of our partner, the Purfleet Trust.

“We would like to thank everyone who helped organise the Christmas concert and look forward to next year’s event.”
