Marie Curie Cancer Care is looking for volunteers to establish a new fundraising group in the Lynn area.

Fundraising groups are incredibly important to the charity as they are the representatives of the charity in their community and help to raise funds for the 26 amazing nurses in Norfolk who treat terminally ill patients every evening.

Paul Fleet, community fundraiser for Marie Curie in Norfolk says: “It would be fantastic to start a new group in the Lynn area.

“Lynn has fantastic community spirit and I think a fundraising group would be very successful here.

“We are looking for people who have plenty of energy, enthusiasm and can spare a few hours a week.”

Importantly, the money that any fundraising group raises is spent on nursing in their county.

Terminally ill patients are able to remain in their own homes rather than be moved to a hospital thanks to the nurses. An hour of nursing costs £20 and a whole shift costs £180.

Mr Fleet would like to hear from anyone interested in starting or joining a new group as soon as possible and he can be contacted on either 01603 787823 or paul.fleet@mariecurie.org.uk
