A children’s home boss will take on a military-style obstacle course this weekend in a bid to help send the youngsters in her care on the holiday of a lifetime.
Janet North, who is manager of the Rosedale home on Goodwins Road, Lynn, is taking part in the five kilometre Cambridge Spartan race this Sunday, alongside her son, Daniel.
Both are supporting Break, the charity which runs Rosedale and five other similar homes in Norfolk for neglected young people.
And Janet is the latest of the home’s staff to take on a fundraising challenge to help send their four residents on a two-week trip to Florida, after they were offered free accommodation there in March.
She said: “Some of the children who come to Rosedale have experienced chronic abuse, neglect and trauma. Some have lived through events that are extremely hard for most adults to comprehend.
She added: “It is through the quality of the relationships with the staff that we bring about stability and positive change to their lives. We help to build their trust in the world.
“A lot of the fundraising for the young people we do ourselves, because we are passionate about providing the best we can for these brave and compassionate young people.”
