Lynn’s College of West Anglia is one of five Norfolk businesses which have pledged new apprenticeships to give people the opportunity to earn while they learn.

The commitment was made during National Apprenticeship Week which saw more than 20,000 apprenticeships pledged throughout the UK.

In Norfolk the five employers, which include ones based in Norwich, Dereham, Gorleston and Thetford, have pledged a total of 27, with two of these being for the Lynn-based college.

Nationally, the apprenticeships have been offered by large corporate businesses, such as Lloyds Banking Group, which committed to taking on 5,000, and also by small and medium-sized businesses, which made up 47 per cent of the total.

National Apprenticeship Week has also seen a boost to the new traineeships which give young people work preparation training, Englsih maths and work experience needed to an apprenticeship or other job.
