Shoppers had the chance to pick up fire safety tips with their home improvement essentials at a Lynn store this week.

Members of Blue Watch from the Lynn fire station teamed up with staff at the B&Q store on the Hardwick estate to stage a fire safety awareness day on Wednesday.

Crew manager Terry Pinto said: “It was very good for us. We managed to speak to around 30 different households.”

He said they had been particularly keen to talk to elderly residents, who are a particularly high risk group, to promote issues around fire safety and the use of carbon monoxide detectors in the home.
