Gas works which had been due to close Lynn’s Saturday Market Place are now set to get underway on Wednesday, engineers have confirmed today, Monday, March 10.
The square was due to be shut to traffic for three weeks from today for work to replace the area’s old iron pipework with modern plastic pipes, which engineers say should last for at least 80 years, to take place.
But a National Grid spokesman yesterday told the Lynn News that the work had not started as scheduled, because engineers had been delayed on an earlier project.
She added: “They will be ready to start in King’s Lynn on Wednesday.”
As first reported in the Lynn News on Friday, the project is expected to take five weeks to complete. The road closure will be in place for three weeks.
