A team of Lynn fundraisers have been recognised as being among the best in the country by a leading cancer charity.
The town’s Macmillan Cancer Support committee has been named among the charity’s best in the country for its continuing work to support people living with cancer in the borough.
Committee chairman Howard Moore said: “We are honoured. Being nominated is down to the hard work and dedication of the members.
“It is always very gratifying to be recognised as well as it being a total surprise.
“Many of our members have personal or family experience of cancer and are motivated by the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
“To be recognised for our work is just the icing on the cake.”
Last year, the group raised £45,000 for the cause and preparations for their next major fundraiser, the annual jazz evening and picnic at Castle Rising on Saturday, June 21, are well underway.
The nomination coincided with this week’s Volunteers Week and Norfolk fundraising manager Georgina Daniels said: “The Lynn committee works tirelessly to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to add my own huge thank you to every member of the committee.”
