Unemployed Traugolt Kazombiaze has been ordered to pay £100 compensation after assaulting his girlfriend.
Josephine Jones told Lynn magistrates on Friday that Kazombiaze grabbed his partner by the throat and began to squeeze along with threatening her with an umbrella during a row on August 25.
Kazombiaze, 36, of Wellesley Street, admitted common assault.
Mitigating, George Sorrell, said Kazombiaze accepts it was wrong to resort to violence.
He was given 100 hours unpaid work and £145 costs.
