A Lynn man who was arrested in a police operation investigating the alleged exploitation of migrant workers has appeared in court.
Juris Valujevs, 35, of Turbus Road, has been charged with acting as an unlicensed gangmaster, fraud by false representation, conspiring to commit immigration offences and blackmail.
Valujevs was arrested on Friday and appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday when he was remanded in custody until Thursday.
Cambridgeshire police and the Gangmasters Licensing Authority conducted a series of raids across Wisbech and March along with one house in Lynn on Tuesday last week as part of Operation Endeavour. Nine other people were arrested.
The inquiry is looking into the exploitation of migrant workers in the Wisbech area, mainly from Lithuania and Latvia.
