Their chips are golden and crispy and have beaten all their competitors to be named as the best in West Norfolk.

The Golden Fish Bar, on Centre Point, Fairstead, Lynn, received the most votes in our competition and has been crowned the Lynn News chip shop of 2014.

Fah Lai, who runs the business with her husband Clemens, said it was a “joy” to be told that her shop had come out on top.

She said: “My husband has been here 26 years and we have served the community. I’m very happy that my customers have supported me.

The competition, which was launched back in February, was your chance to tell us your favourite fish and chip shop and why.

Your nominations created our final shortlist of 14 local establishments and after 3 weeks of voting, The Golden Fish Bar has been crowned the winner.

Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted and got in touch – we’ve been overwhelmed by the response.

To commemorate their success, we presented The Golden Fish Bar with our special ‘Chip Shop of the Year 2014’ certificate.

Mrs Lai said they had asked shoppers to vote for them if they enjoyed their meals.

She added: “Thank you to all our customers for their support.”

Following on from the success of our chip shop of the year competition, we will shortly be launching our salon of the year competition.

For full details on how to nominate your favourite hair and/or beauty salon, simply pick up a copy of the Lynn News on Friday, May 9.
