Sixth form students at Lynn’s Springwod High School are planning to celebrate the end of the summer term with a charity fete.
They are organising the event on Tuesday, July 22 as part of their business studies coursework to raise money for some worthwhile causes and to have some fun before they head off for the summer break.
Some of the profit will go to the Red Wellies charity and the rest will be used towards something dedicated to a popular Springwood teacher who died recently.
The students are hoping that businesses and individuals will help them with prizes for the raffle, cash donations or help with equipment they can use on the day.
A dozen students are in the organising team and the event is only open to end of year Year 12 students.
Attractions will include stalls, laser tag, apple bobbing and a barbecue.
Some of the student organisers told the Lynn News how they are looking forward to the day:
“I think it is good that we are working together and raising money for a local charity”, said Vicky Chiles.
Fiona Chaddock said: “I’m very excited for the day. We really want to raise a lot of money for Red Wellies and with help I’m certain that we can do this”.
Tom Melton said: “With the public’s help, I’m sure we can help out Red Wellies as much as possible, and provide Year 12 with an extremely fun day”.
And George Sabourin added: “Working as a team, we hope to run a successful event to not only entertain Year 12 on their second to last day, but to also raise money for both a local charity and in memory of a dearly loved teacher who sadly passed away”.
Anyone who can help them out with cash or prizes is asked to drop the donations in at the school, c/o Jessica Russell for Business Event Team A or to email: email@example.com
