A man has been jailed for five years after tens of thousands of pounds worth of heroin was discovered in a kitchen cupboard.

Brian Burdett, 54, of Red Lion Close, Holme Hale, near Swaffham, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Monday, June 9, after he pleaded guilty to charges of possession with intent to supply the drug and acquiring criminal property.

The case related to a 500 gram haul of heroin, with an estimated street value of £46,000, which was discovered at a house in Red Lion Close, Holme Hale, during a police raid on March 3 this year. Burdett was detained at the scene.

Det Con Mark Stratford, who investigated the case, said: “This was a substantial find of heroin and I have no doubt our action has disrupted local supply chains.

“The use and supply of illegal drugs and associated crime and anti-social behaviour can have a detrimental impact on communities and is something we take very seriously.

“People with information about such behaviour can be reassured we will deal with approaches sensitively and will act on this information, taking robust action where necessary.”
