A ward of Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital which has been closed for a week following a suspected outbreak of the winter vomiting bug norovirus has re-opened today, Friday, March 14.

Trust officials confirmed a short time ago that the Oxborough ward, which first shut last Thursday, is now open again following a deep clean of the unit yesterday.

A second ward, the West Raynham, remains closed as two patients are still showing symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea.

That ward is not expected to re-open until early next week. However, the trust says that no new cases of the bug have been reported.

At the peak of the outbreak, 25 patients were reported to have been taken ill, though none of their conditions were thought to be serious.
