A Lynn man has been jailed for 16 years after he was convicted of three sex attacks on women in the town.

Arunas Kersys, 36, of Hillington Square, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Monday.

He had previously been found guilty of three counts of rape, relating to two victims, following a trial. The attacks happened in Lynn in August of last year and March of this year.

Det Sgt Martin James, of Norfolk Police, today, Wednesday December 11, welcomed the sentence.

He also paid tribute to Kersys’ victims and witnesses from the area’s Latvian and Lithuanian communities who helped to bring him to justice.

He said: “Arunas Kersys is a violent and dangerous individual who poses a significant risk to women.

“This sentence reflects the severity of this case and I’m glad Kersys is behind bars where he belongs.”

As well as his prison term, Kersys will have to serve an extended five-year licence period on the Sex Offenders’ Register when he is released. It was also recommended that Kersys is deported at the end of his sentence.
