Police have this afternoon, Tuesday, May 20, appealed for help to trace a convicted sex offender who they believe may be in the Lynn area.
Peter Whiteley, 49, is wanted by officers from the South Yorkshire force for an alleged breach of sex offender notification requirements.
A spokesman said Whiteley had failed to notify the authorities when he left his registered home address in Doncaster last June. Following an investigation to trace him, officers believe he may be in the Lynn area or London.
Whiteley was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register after he was jailed for seven years for attempted rape in January 2002.
He is described as white, 5ft 11ins tall and is of a slim build. He has grey hair which, when he was last seen, was curly and around collar-length. He has blue eyes and teeth missing from the bottom set. He also usually wears scruffy casual clothing.
Anyone with information on Whiteley’s whereabouts is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police via the non-emergency 101 number.
