I am in total disagreement with civilians carrying out the job of public servants – in this case the police who are our crime prevention and detection service.
If I were to receive a “warning letter” from the police, based on the evidence of a part-time neighbourhood watch scheme patrolling the streets, I would send it back to the Chief Constable with a letter of complaint.
Let the police do the crime prevention. That’s what they are paid for.
