Retired dockers were among those sharing their memories of what it was like to live and work along Lynn’s South Quay and in Marriott’s Warehouse during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.

Michael Fillenham, pictured, along with scores of others recorded their memories in Marriott’s Warehouse with BBC Voices sound engineer Jay Lawrence and Janne Vanessche.

It was a project organised by Marriott’s Warehouse Trust after visitors to the building had been reminiscing about seeing cargoes being unloaded from ships into the warehouse.

The sound archive also heard of hard winters in the cold and boys asking to snack on “hash bars”, which were lumps of silage for cattle to chew on during the winter months.
