Three men who have given a joint total of 80 years of service to the Lions Club have been honoured.
Downham Lions Club members Alan Stephenson, Chris Moreton and Gerry Ryan were presented with long service awards by vice district governor Kevin Rodgers at a recent meeting.
Retired RAF serviceman Mr Stephenson has given 30 years service to the Lions while former bank manager Mr Ryan has held the post of treasurer or secretary during his two decades with the club.
Mr Moreton has been president of Downham Lions five times during his 30 years with the club. He is currently liaising and supporting the Lioness Club and is also zone chairman.
The club has also welcomed new member Alan Pickering, who moved to the town a few months ago.
He said “I’ve been very impressed with the people here being so community-minded and I just wanted the chance to put something back into the community of Downham and the surrounding area. Being a member of the Downham Lions Club will give me that opportunity.”
