A van driver has died following a two vehicle crash in Feltwell on Wednesday morning.

The man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene after the white Nissan van he was driving ended up in a ditch in Southery Road.

Emergency services were called to the site after the van and a blue Toyota truck collided at about 6.45am.

Firefighters from Downham and Littleport were called along with police and ambulance crews.

Southery Road was closed until 11.20am after an investigation got underway.

A 55-year-old man from the Thetford area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail until February 26.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicles beforehand. They also want to hear of any debris on the road before the incident. Contact police on the 101 number.

An inquest into the van driver’s death is due to open early next week.
