A committee of MPs has expressed concerns about the costs of the new fighter planes which are due to be based at RAF Marham.
Ministers announced earlier this year that the new joint strike fighter squadron would be housed at the base when they come into service.
The planes are part of the Ministry of Defence’s wider Carrier Strike programme, which is now not set to come into full operation until the early 2020s.
And a report by the House of Commons’ Public Accounts Committee, which was published this week, concluded that the programme remained a “high risk” one for the public purse.
The committee said: “There are significant technical and commercial risks to the timely and affordable delivery of aircraft and the carriers.”
