Parish councillors in Sutton Bridge will hold a special meeting to decide whether to take legal action in their opposition to a proposed biomass plant on the edge of their village.

The parish council has set aside a £10,000 fighting fund, but is waiting to hear from lawyers before deciding whether to apply for a judicial review.

The authority is unhappy with the decision of South Holland District Council to give planning consent for the £165million scheme.

In the meantime, EnergyPark Sutton Bridge is pressing ahead with an application to the Environment Agency for an operational permit for the plant, due to be built on industrial land at Wingland.
