A new running programme will be launched in Lynn this week – aimed at helping people who have never tried the sport before to have a go.
The free initiative, which will start in The Walks this Saturday, June 7, aims to cash in on the inspiration of events like the recent Grand East Anglia Run (GEAR).
The new Fun and Fit group, which is being organised by Active Norfolk, also hopes to help people who are planning to take part in a forthcoming Race for Life this summer, such as the Lynn event which is scheduled to take place at Houghton Hall on June 23, to prepare for that.
Fabia Pollard, a leader in running fitness for Active Norfolk, said: “How brilliant would it be to start with a group of people at a similar level, have some fun and ultimately learn to do something that costs you nothing to continue in the future.
“All you need is a pair of trainers and suitable clothing for the good old English weather.”
The organisation says the sessions will be run by a qualified coach and held in a supportive and safe environment which aims to build fitness through walking first, so it does not matter if you are not sure you can run already.
Anyone who is interested in taking part in the event is asked to meet at the bandstand in the Walks next Saturday at 10am.
