Hard working cheerleaders will be looking fabulous in their new uniforms after finally raising the money needed.
Downham’s Marquette’s Baton Twirlers and Cheerleaders have been raising the £300 needed for some months and managed to raise the final £70 necessary during a bingo on Friday last week.
The group will soon be placing the order for burgundy and blue sparkley crop tops and skirts. The girls could be unveiling the new uniforms during the forthcoming Downham Festival in May.
The club’s Anita Cornish has thanked the people who supported last week’s event.
She said: “The girls are really pleased to have the money and looking forward to seeing the new uniforms.”
The club has 22 girls, who are aged between five and 19, but would also welcome boys. The group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Downham Academy from 6pm to 8pm.
