The opening hours at a neighbourhood post office in Lynn are set to be more than doubled as part of a makeover.
Fairstead Post Office will soon be open for 111 hours a week – with services available until 10pm seven-days-a-week.
The post office, based at McColls in Centre Point, will close for refurbishment on Monday, June 2, at 5.30pm and re-open on Wednesday, June 4, at 1pm.
Post office area manager Kevin Shepherd said the post office will become an open-plan branch, which means customers can access services from the shop’s main till, rather than just the hatch for the post office.
As a result of the refurbishment, the post office will be open an extra 65 hours a week compared to the current opening hours.
The branch will be open Monday to Saturday from 6am to 10pm and from 8am to 10pm on Sundays.
A Post Office spokesman said: “The new opening hours will meet the needs of the Fairstead community, especially those who work and find it difficult to get to the post office during the day.”
n Heacham Post Office is also being refurbished and will increase its opening times to include Saturday afternoons.
The High Street branch will close on Wednesday, June 18, at 5.30pm and re-open on Friday, June 27, from 1pm.
The makeover will include two open-plan post office counters and a modern screened position.
The new opening hours will be 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday – offering customers five extra hours on a Saturday.
