A dedicated Lynn volunteer is to turn his attentions to another good cause when he joins hundreds of others to take part in the second Cycle Together Sandringham event.
Steven Cable first made the headlines earlier this year when he was recognised for his contribution to the community in keeping Lynn’s Pepper Green Park tidy despite a range of health problems.
Now, Mr Cable, 59, is planning to take his custom-built tricycle, and faithful pet dog Bobby, to take part in the charity event to support respite breaks at the Park House Hotel. He said: “You don’t ever expect to become disabled. That’s why I’m raising money for Park House.
“I know how hard it can be looking after someone with a disability and what a difference a short respite break, like they offer at Park House, can make to that person or carer.”
Officials are hoping that as many as 800 people will take part in the event on Sunday, July 13.
Park House fundraiser Phil Davies said: “It will be fantastic to see Steven and Bobby joining us with many other people on the day.
“Cycle Together takes place amongst a fun and friendly atmosphere. I admire Steven’s determination to be a part of what promises to be a very special day.
“This spirit really conjures up the essence of such a fun day out while raising funds for a worthy local cause.”
Steven and Bobby will be tackling the 10-mile route on the day, while entries are also being taken for the three other distances that are available – 20, 50 and 100 miles.
And organisers are also appealing for volunteers to help with tasks, including marshalling, registration and helping at feed stations. Visit www. leonardcheshire.org/get-involved/events/cycling/cycle-together or email Phil Davies on email@example.com.
