Plans have been submitted to extend Mintlyn Crematorium.
West Norfolk Council has submitted a scheme to add an extension onto the Gayton building last week.
The current site, which was opened in 1980 and carries out 2,000 cremations a year, is too small for some of the equipment needed and there is no reception or waiting area. There is no shower area for staff.
The application states that there is a risk of staff members carrying cremated ashes across the exit lobby would be seen by mourners leaving a service.
