Police have this afternoon, Thursday, appealed for witnesses in connection with an assault in the centre of Lynn in which a man suffered serious eye injuries.
The incident happened in Paradise Lane shortly before midnight on August 17, though police say a formal complaint about the attack has only been made in the last few days.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, had been walking with two female friends when they were approached by a group of four men.
A police spokesman said he suffered a punch to the eye, which caused him to fall to the ground, from one of the group after he asked what had been said to one of the women. He was then punched in the eye by another of the men while on the floor. The group made off towards Norfolk Street.
Detectives say the victim is still undergoing medical treatment following the assault and has difficulty seeing out of his right eye. It is not yet known whether he will lose any of his sight.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information is asked to contact Det Con Larissa Foreman via the non-emergency 101 number.
