An investigation is underway this afternoon into the cause of a fire which broke out in a chip shop in Swaffham earlier today.
Roads around the centre of the town have been closed for most of the day to enable firefighters to deal with the incident at the Mr Chips premises in the Market Place.
The fire was reported at around 8,45am today, Saturday, and, at its height, crews from 10 different fire stations were at the scene, including Lynn, Swaffham, Downham, Massingham and Fakenham.
A Norfolk Fire Service spokesman said a short time ago that it was still unclear what had caused the fire and that investigations were continuing.
Although a witness who contacted the Lynn News said that nearby buildings had been at risk from the fire, the spokesman said there had been no suggestion of that from officers at the scene.
Roads around the market place were re-opened by police shortly after 3pm.
