Two senior nurses at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital have been given top regional awards for their leadership skills.

Emergency services matron Claire Kent, pictured above right, was named emerging leader of the year at the East of England NHS Leadership Recognition Awards, held at the Duxford Air Museum, near Cambridge.

And learning disabilities nurse Maria Cox, pictured above left, scooped the leader of patient inclusivity of the year prize for her work with patients with learning disabilities.

Claire said: “I was humbled to be nominated, let alone to win this award. I believe passionately that good leadership is an essential ingredient in providing great care to patients and their families.”

Maria added: “I was surprised and absolutely thrilled to be nominated, and to win.”

Both of them will now go forward to national finals. Picture submitted
