A determined Duke of Edinburgh braved the elements on Sunday when he chose to take his usual walk from Sandringham House to the Church of St Mary Magdalene during heavy downpours.

Prince Philip, 91, and a number of guests, endured the storms on their way to church but were driven back to Sandringham House in Range Rovers following the service, which included a sermon by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The Queen was driven to and from the service in a Bentley.
