Residents in Sutton Bridge who are fed up of seeing rubbish dumped in their community are being invited to join in with a litter blitz later this month.
A little pick will be held at the Memorial Park on Tuesday, October 15, from 10am as part of an initiative across South Holland to tackle the problem.
Around 40 people have volunteered to take part in a series of seven such events taking place throughout October.
And 20 have also expressed an interest in becoming community litter wardens in a scheme launched by the South Holland District Council.
Roger Gambba Jones, the authority’s portfolio holder for waste management, said: “Hopefully, when the culprits see volunteers picking up litter they will think twice about doing it – rubbish always seems to attract rubbish.”
Under 16s taking part in the litter picks must be supervised.
