A retired shop worker returned to the floors of the store she worked in 70 years ago. Winifred Lord, 92, was given a tour of Marks and Spencer in Lynn to find out how the store has changed.

Mrs Lord, who lives at Amberley Hall, Gaywood, began working in the shop during the 1940s and often talks about her time there.

Store manager Paul Rich and his team enjoyed hearing Mrs Lord’s memories and explained to her how the business works today.

He added: “We have an archive of old pictures and it was nice to show her those and to hear her recollections of the store. It was a great day.” Mrs Lord was later treated to afternoon tea in the store’s cafe, which was not around during her time.
