Police are appealing for more information after a rogue trader charged an elderly couple £1,850 to repair a roof.
The man called at the couple’s home in Glasbury Walk, on the Merryfields Estate, Swaffham, on Wednesday (August 14) and stated that there was a hole in the roof which needed repairing.
Betweeen 9.30am and 10am the following morning (Thursday, August 15), he stated that the cost would be £1,850 and that he would only take cash so the woman went to the bank to get the money.
Officers from the Operation RADAR are investigating due to the excessive amount of money charged and are appealing for witnesses.
The man is described as being between 6ft and 6ft 4in, in his 40s, of medium build with short brown hair. He was wearing a blue shirt.
There was also a second man who was in his 20s.
They drove a white van with ladders on the roof.
