The Queen has made a donation to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The charity has received a “generous donation” from the Queen’s Privy Purse Charitable Trust.

The cheque arrived with a letter from the Sandringham Estate which stated that Her Majesty had asked for the donation to be made.

The air ambulance was called to the estate in July last year to take gardener Lee Abel, 33, to hospital after he had been trapped underwater for several minutes by a lawn mower.
