Youngsters from the eco-council at Howard Junior School, Gaywood, decided they wanted to learn more about local produce and green issues so they contacted Lynn’s Dobbies store, which was pleased to help.

With Dobbies’ school support officer Victoria Emden, pictured right, and eco-council teacher Anna Clutterham, left, they built an afternoon’s education programme, when the children attended the store on the Hardwick Retail Park last week. Pupils sampled some of the fresh produce, planted lettuces, looked at the chickens and fish, designed a healthy menu and did an investigation as to where local food came from. They left with the intention of planting more fresh veg for the school kitchen, Picture supplied
