Community and religious leaders have paid tribute to the community’s support for a two-year appeal to revamp Swaffham’s parish church.
More than 100 people attended a dedication service held at the St Peter and St Paul church to celebrate the renovations and improvements made to the building.
Appeal president, and former South West Norfolk MP, Baroness Shephard, thanked residents, appeal patrons and community groups for their support.
She said: “What has been achieved will continue to benefit our and future generations of worshippers in this beautiful church and in the wider community.”
The dedication was made by the Archdeacon of Lynn, the Venerable John Ashe, who told the congregation: “The story of the church in Swaffham is more like a saga with each generation adding its mark on the church building in order to hand it over to the next generation.”
The project included repairs to the building’s heating system, the installation of eight new windows and the creation of a new car park for visitors.
