Hunstanton was paid the honour of a flypast by the US Air Force on Friday morning when a MC-130 Combat Shadow Hercules flew over the town.
The plane – which is used to transport men and freight across the globe – is operated by the USAF 67th Special Operations Squardron based at RAF Mildenhall and this was its ‘farewell’ flight as it is being phased out in favour of the MC-130J Commando II aircraft.
The farewell flight took in Sculthorpe, near Fakenham, and other bases around the country. But Hunstanton was the only ‘non-airbase’ to get the privilege of a low-level flypast.
The Americans nearly caught onlookers gathered on the town Green out though, arriving 20 minutes early.
