It was a wet and wild weekend in West Norfolk, as this photograph taken by Paul Tibbs of a Castle Rising Castle visitor shows. But in every sense, the picture offers a bit of perspective and it’s true we got away with it lightly.

Gusts of up to 45mph were recorded at Marham on Saturday and police were called to six incidents of trees or branches falling down in Narborough, Hilgay, St Germans, Northwold, Burnham Thorpe and Welney.

In the last fortnight six weeks’ worth of rain has fallen in the area and the storms look set to continue with the Met Office issuing warnings of gale force winds from Wednesday.
