Plans are in the pipeline to install a solar farm in a South Wootton field.

Push Energy want to construct a 1.2mw solar array on a 2.4 hectare site, which is part of Spot Farm.

The 5,040 panels could be generating enough power for 300 to 400 homes if the project comes to fruition.

Although the scheme is at an early stage and no planning application has yet been submitted, a public consultation will be held in Knight’s Hill Hotel, tomorrow (Wednesday, February 26), from 6pm to 8pm.

Push Energy’s director of planning, Jamie Kelly said the site is in an ideal location.

He said: “The local area would be helping to contribute to the renewable energy targets our country is required to meet.

“The public consultation will be an informal event and we will be able to answer any questions.”
