A West Norfolk woman has had thousands of pounds stolen by scammers after her purse was stolen from her place of work.

The theft happened last Thursday morning, between 7.30am and 11.20am. The purse was taken from a handbag in the staff room of business premises in Grimston Road, South Wootton.

The victim was then telephoned by someone claiming to be from her bank, reporting attempted unauthorised access on the bank account.

She was then asked for her personal details and the PINs to her cards, and subsequently this information was used to withdraw several thousand pounds at a number of different locations.

Officers at Norfolk police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time stated.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Heather Whitmore at Hunstanton SNT on 101 (calls cost 15p).
