Unwanted and old spectacles are being collected by Lynn Lions Club, which is appealing to people to support its annual spectacle and glasses collection.
The scheme is being run throughout October to mark World Sight Day, which was held on October 10.
The initiative involves old glasses being recycled to transform someone’s life in a developing country.
Lion Mark Parsons is appealing to people across West Norfolk to support the collection, which is being held at seven opticians.
He said: “Your old spectacles will be put to good use to positively help a person in a developing country to improve their sight and lives.
“Whatever the condition, the spectacles will be put to good use to help someone, somewhere.”
The following Lynn opticians will be acting as collection points: Vision Express, Boots, Spec-Savers, Sainsbury’s Hardwick store, Moss and Leaky.
The Wigram and Ware branches in Dersingham and Lynn are also backing the collection.
For a number of years Lions clubs across the country have been supporting the initiative, which aims to eliminate preventable blindness in developing countries.
